Recently a friend was on a two week fishing trip on the south coast of NSW, during this time he became quite ill and had to be hospitalised. This was not a good out come and thought his insurance would cover the return of his boat and car as he was injured . He was wrong. So here are some questions to ask your insurer. Do you provide; - cover for returning your boat to your home if you are no longer fit to drive
- cover for returning your boat to your home if your tow vehicle is no longer fit to drive
- cover for traveling on gravel roads and/or 4WD tracks if you think you might have to take them

In the event of a close quarters situation with another vessel, especially one commercially registered, fill out the following form. If you fill out one of these forms MSV is obliged to investigate. They may take the owner aside for a quiet chat if they get a number of these. http://www.marinesafety.vic.gov.au/DOI/DOIElect.nsf/$UNIDS+for+Web+Display/71667BB84E6393EDCA2574FD00792835/$FILE/MIR%20Commercial%20Form%20v3.0%20060605%2030.06.20 06.pdf This is especially important with the up-coming snapper season and the activities of some of the less scrupulous charter operators around the bays. |

Ever wondered with all this hype about mobiles and the ever present Iphone, how you could use some of this new technology to catch more fish and tell your mates about what you have caught.
We have been using forums for ever to post our catches, text our mates with the lat an long of a great catch. What about using our mobiles and the built in features to track our catches and even better selectively tell our buddies where the fish are on.
As a recent convert to an Iphone, I am hooked on the uses I have found in its basic abilities and am over the moon with one particular app which threatens to replace my in boat chart plotter.
Over this season, I and a group of dedicated worshippers will be trialling all the latest gadgets we can get our hands on. To keep track of all this new technology we have launched a new public forum. Click into the forums to check it out. |

TWO Braybrook men will be charged on summons after Fisheries Victoria officers caught them allegedly using a large, illegal fishing net in the Werribee RiOfficers seized 17 breeding-size bream, a net and a small inflatable raft following a surveillance operation last week after receiving a tip.
It has been alleged the two men, aged 20 and 28, set the 25-metre net in the river at K Rd.
